Back in 2009, I wrote a tribute piece, just for fun, about my favorite group from my teen years that had reunited. I intended to set up a one-post blog. Something that would just sit there stagnant in cyberspace, making its one resounding statement to the universe. You know how you stumble across those things sometimes, those little orphan blog posts, and you read the post and you look for more posts, and you're like, is that all? Is that all that person wanted to say?
I had a secret hope that it would generate some traffic, maybe even some traffic of a celebrity nature, though I dared not admit it.
So then that actually happened.
And then after I came back to earth from being over the moon, some time passed, and a journalist friend of mine said, "Jennifer, I think you need to update your blog."
Really? But why would I do that?
Because you need to be writing, she said.
No thanks. I didn't know what I would blog about, I told her. And besides, if I stuck another post up there, and then another, then my wonderful tribute piece would get buried further and further down the line, and that would totally defeat the purpose of my one-post blog! The cheese stands alone! (And that piece was some kind of cheese.)
But here I am, 145 posts later. Somewhere between then and now, I guess I did have a few more things to say. I began finding a joy in expression that I had not known since school days. Write what you know, the teachers would say. Everyone in class around me would groan, and I'd be like, bring it on. That right-brained feeling of confidence lasted right up until about 4th period Trigonometry.
Here at TFW, you'll find posts on humor, inspiration, parenting, nostalgia, and the occasional rant because those are fun. But if you really want to know about me, you should start with this post. It's about my Name-Caller.
So that's what happened. What is still happening. What's in my heart is what comes out. Thanks for stopping by and reading. I'm glad you're here!
